Isabelle Cameleyre, new representative

Isabelle Cameleyre is now the official representative of the Poitiers Biopole. A doctor in biology, she assumed her new functions on October 22nd and will strive to serve the interests of the association’s members. Here is her portrait.

As a research engineer at the Lusignan-based Poitou-Charentes INRA, for four years Isabelle Cameleyre had no occasion to get acquainted with the Biopole… prior to applying for her position as a permanent employee! “Some professional contacts of mine alerted me to the opportunity”, indicates the doctor in biological and medical sciences. And so, on the spur of the moment, this scientist born in Tours announced her candidacy – and the rest is history.

“I had reached a turning point in my career where I aspired to put my scientific knowledge to work and make use of my skills as an organizer and a coordinator in a new activity…”. In her professional past, such missions had obviously already comprised a major part of her everyday life. From Bordeaux, where she obtained her Ph.D. in 1996, to Lusignan, with a year in Edinburgh and three years near Birmingham during the British stage of her itinerary, Isabelle Cameleyre has always “learned a great deal”. “I worked on projects involving animals and plants, and I also have a background in chemistry and biochemistry”, indicates the official representative.

Getting projects off the drawing board

Isabelle Cameleyre is determined to place her multiple competencies “at the disposal of the Biopole members”. And from the get-go, the new Biopole coordinator will get a chance to encounter reality head-on, with two large-scale events: a trip to the Walloon Agrobiopole in Namur (Nov. 21 – Nov. 24) and participation in Pollutec (Nov. 27 – Nov. 30), where she is to accompany four Biopole-based companies. In the meantime and with the help of Laurent Fillion, Isabelle intends to get to know the various members of the association (firms, laboratories, regional and local authorities…).

It will then be time for her to bring to bear her “experience in European projects” and to unearth “opportunities for financing”. More than just a program…
