«To meet, to exchange and to build projects from ground up» President of the health-centered Biopole, Benjamin Poirot went straight to the point as he addressed the thirty members and partners gathered together in Neuville at the Haut-Poitou wine cellar and hammered home the network experts’ common goal: «To do business, that’s what we’re all expecting!”.
After having recalled the services rendered by the association and enumerated the list of the Biopole’s partner networks (*), the president indicated its key orientations and detailed the get-togethers scheduled for 2011. These will consist in events held in conjunction with other groups of companies, plenary sessions, and theme-based meetings focused on scientific or managerial subjects. On March 9th, for example, the Biopole, Etincel and the Poitiers CHU (hospital) will hold a morning innovation meeting entitled «Developing and financing your research projects» with the participation of the competitiveness pole Atlanpole Biotherapies, the business angel network known as Angels Santé, the biotechnology and service companies In Cell Art and BIOalternatives, a fiscal affairs official from the French government research ministry, and the Poitiers CHU purchasing manager.
A network to stimulate innovation
The Biopole also encourages its members to apply for the network technology services (PTR in French, 10000€) of which it is the prescriber. A new call for tenders pertaining to cross-cutting incentive-based solutions (AIT, 5 000€) will soon be issued. All of these initiatives are meant to stimulate innovation and promote cross-fertilization among members.
The Neuville meeting continued with a presentation of the different structures that had joined the network in 2010. The companies known as Novamex, V&P, Orion Technologies, Idcaps, and EVHeO intoduced themselves and mentioned their specialized skills ; they were followed by partners including Mediscis, the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), the Veille Environnement Entreprises (VEE) association, and the Poitou-Charentes technology development network (RDT).
Subsequent to the information-sharing sessions, the participants were invited first to visit the Haut-Poitou wine cellar, and then to attend the show « The Manager of the Year » written by and starring Jean-Marc Bonnet, before coming together to sip Haut-Poitou wines and to taste some local culinary specialties.
